Last week, we started to cure the acorn squash. These little green gems are closely related to pumpkins, butternuts as well as cucumbers and zucchini. The splash of orange is indicative of ripenesd and the eminence of fall.
This is one of favorite foods to grow and eat, but we saving them for CSA members to enjoy first. Keep an out for these roastable bowls in the weeks to come. Until then, enjoy this recipe that we use to make spicy Plum Sauce.
You will need:
3/4 cup plum jam
Tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
Teaspoon salt
Teaspoon ginger
Teaspoon chiles
1 clove garlic
Tablespoon dried onions
5 minutes to prep
15 minutes to cook
Combine jammed plums, vinegar, br o sugar, dried onion, red pepper, garlic and ginger. Bring to a boil, stirring. Remove from heat.
