Introducing Greydale Farms
Greydale Farms is a new grower with City Commons this year. You may have seen their squash, beans, tomatoes, or potatoes in your shares so far this season. This week the beans and summer squash in Friday and Saturday shares are coming from them. Greydale Farms is located on an acre and a half of land in Brightmoor, Detroit and was started in hopes of increasing accessibility of locally grown, organic produce while providing educational opportunities to youth regarding sustainability.
Like the rest of us farmers, Greydale Farms is in the middle of tomato season, but they've also had a busy summer, establishing new beds on the farm and planting fall crops. Expect to see leeks, onions, and brussels sprouts from them in your storage shares this fall.
