Week 16
These cooler temperatures are very welcomed after such a hot and dry summer. As tomatoes and peppers become less available, new and lesser known fruits and vegetables start to ripen up. This week, there are two items in the box that will hopefully warm you up and keep you well.
Lemongrass is all versatility from the tops to the bottoms. The flavor is locked inside of the leaves and bulbs. It can be used to marinate dish or to make tea that will remind you of lemonade. The leaves of Lemongrass are entirely fragrant and can be dried and used as potpourri, and as an added benefit, lemongrass is high incitronella oil which is a deterrent for mosquitoes and other pests.
Rosehips has one of the highest concentrated sources of vitamin C with about 1700-2000 mg per 100 grams of pdried fruit. They can be used to remedy many ailments like rheumatoid arthritis, knee and hip aches, fat metabolism, and general wellness. Rose hips are also high in iron and usually used to make tea. They have a very citric taste.
